Legacy
Living with heart and hope
You parent a legacy.
I took these words to heart when our angelic hospice nurse meekly comforted us in the wake of shattering loss.
We have never and will never stop parenting our son CJ.
He was here:
Breathed the same air as us.
Smiled back at us.
Cried with us.
Lived among us.
He lived. He lives
on. In legacy form.
My son’s legacy is one of heart and hope.
It takes a village to parent. It takes a village to parent a legacy too. In honor of CJ’s fourth birthday, we are continuing his legacy of heart and hope by giving to families in the cardiac intensive care unit who have also experienced loss of a child.
This is all we have left of CJ. By giving, we keep his legacy alive. We keep him known here on this side of heaven.
But it makes me wonder, what if we lived with the end in mind? What if we parented our living children with such intentional hope? How will we all be remembered?
What do you want your legacy to be?
